What’s the Deal on Google?

Google now gives college students in the U.S. free access to its One AI Premium plan. Normally, this plan costs $20 per month, but students can enjoy it without paying until June 30, 2026. To get this offer, students must sign up before June 30, 2025, and verify their identity using a valid .edu email address.

A Google spokesperson, Alex Joseph, explains that students will receive an email reminder before their free plan ends. This way, they will have enough time to cancel if they don’t want to continue. The plan includes 2TB of cloud storage and advanced AI tools designed to help students study more effectively.

What’s Included?

The AI Premium plan provides access to Gemini Advanced, Google’s rival to ChatGPT Plus. Additionally, it offers Deep Research features that summarize complex topics and turn reports into audio summaries. Students can also use NotebookLM Plus for better study tools and audio note-taking.

Moreover, Google integrates Gemini AI into Docs, Sheets, and Slides for smarter productivity. The plan even includes new tools like Veo 2, a text-to-video AI, and Whisk, which mixes text and images to create unique content.

Recently, OpenAI and Anthropic also launched free AI tools for students. Since academia is a key market, Google joins the competition to attract future users. With AI threatening Google’s search dominance, this move helps the company stay ahead.

In short, students now get powerful AI tools for free—making studying easier while Google secures its place in the AI race.
