AI Brings Photos to Life in Seconds

Soon, Google’s Gemini AI will let you transform any photo into a short video. Right now, AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini can already create images from text prompts. Meanwhile, other models from OpenAI and Google can generate videos from words—or even animate still images with matching voices.

Now, Gemini is taking it further by letting users turn their own photos into 5-second clips. However, you might need a specific phone to try it first. Unlike past Google AI features that debuted on Galaxy or Pixel devices, this one is launching on the upcoming Honor 400 series on May 22. Honor partnered with Google to introduce AI Image to Video, powered by Google’s Veo 2 model.

How It Works and Who Gets It First

Inside the Honor 400’s Gallery app, the feature will be simple to use—just select a photo, and the AI automatically animates it without needing text prompts. The results will be random, preventing misuse for fake or misleading clips.

At first, Honor 400 buyers will get 10 free video generations per day for two months. Later, Google may require a subscription—likely Gemini Advanced—for access. Currently, Veo 2 charges $0.50 per second for text-to-video, but image-to-video remains limited to “approved users.”

Google will likely expand this feature to more devices, just like it did with Circle to Search. With Google I/O 2025 just a week away, we may hear more about Gemini’s video powers soon. Expect safety measures like watermarks when it rolls out widely.

The demo clips look impressive, but for now, Honor users will be the first to bring their photos to life with AI!
