Google Releases an Important Update for Pixel Phones
Google has launched Android 16 Beta 3.2 to fix several issues affecting Pixel phones. This update addresses haptic feedback problems, excessive battery drain, and camera display flickering. The company has also improved overall system stability to make the software experience smoother.
Google had already reached Platform Stability with the Android 16 Beta 3 release in mid-March 2025. Within a week, the company rolled out a small Beta 3.1 update to resolve major bugs like unexpected battery drain and crashes in the Settings app. Now, just two weeks later, Google has released Beta 3.2 to fix additional problems, including an unwanted haptic feedback change introduced in the previous version.
Key Fixes and Improvements in Android 16 Beta 3.2
Google has fixed a display issue on the Pixel 6 series that caused flickering when using the camera. Additionally, the company has addressed a critical bug that led to excessive battery drain while the device was idle. This marks the second consecutive update focused on reducing power consumption.
The Android 16 Beta 3.2 update includes the following fixes:
Fixed an issue that miscalibrated haptic feedback in certain situations. (Issue #392319999, Issue #400455826)
Fixed a bug that caused unnecessary battery drain even when the phone was not in use. (Issue #398329457)
Fixed a problem on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro that sometimes made the screen flicker when taking photos or videos.
Fixed various other issues that impacted system stability and overall usability.
Google has made this update available for all eligible Pixel devices enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel program. The company is rolling out the update over the air (OTA), allowing users to install it automatically. The update file is small, ranging from 34MB to 42MB, depending on the device.
Users can wait for their Pixel phones to download the update in the background. However, those who want to install it immediately can go to Settings → System → Software updates → System update and tap Check for updates.
Google has confirmed that Android 16 remains on schedule for a stable release in June 2025. By addressing these minor issues now, the company ensures a smoother experience when the final version arrives.
