Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the NEET medical entrance exam today. He called the exam a “big cheating scandal” after new corruption cases came out. The CBI is investigating a case where people took money to change NEET exam marks.
Stalin said NEET is not fair for students. He wrote on Twitter that the exam helps rich people but hurts poor students. The case involves a doctor and exam officials who allegedly took bribes to increase students’ scores. The Chief Minister said problems exist at every step – from question papers to exam centers to results.
He also attacked the opposition AIADMK party for not speaking against NEET. Stalin said they support BJP instead of helping Tamil Nadu students. Tamil Nadu has always opposed NEET since it started. The state says this national exam is bad for poor students, village students and first-generation learners.
Many Tamil Nadu students have died by suicide because of NEET pressure. More than 20 students have killed themselves since 2017. Their deaths made many people angry. Families of these students and political parties have protested against the exam.
The Tamil Nadu government made a law to cancel NEET in the state. They want to use 12th standard marks for medical college admissions instead. But the central government has not approved this law yet. This has caused fights between the state and central governments.
With new corruption cases coming out, more people are demanding to stop NEET. Students and parents say the exam causes too much stress. But the central government says NEET keeps the same standards for medical education across India. The fight about NEET continues as students suffer.
