A very sad accident happened this morning in Cuddalore. A train crashed into a school van carrying school children. Three children died and many got hurt. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu said he feels very sorry and will help the families.

The van was taking children to school at 7:45 am. It tried to cross the train tracks when a train was coming. The train hit the van hard and pushed it far down the tracks. Three students died  and other children and the van driver got hurt badly. Doctors are working hard to help them at the hospital.

The Chief Minister said, “This makes me very sad. These children should be alive and happy, not dead.” The government will give money to help:

  • ₹5 lakh to each family who lost a child

  • ₹1 lakh to each badly hurt person

  • ₹50,000 to each slightly hurt person

He told hospitals to take very good care of all hurt people.

The railway people say the gatekeeper made a big mistake. His name is Pankaj Sharma. He might have left the train gate open when he shouldn’t have. Now he can’t work there anymore.

A special group will find out exactly what happened. They will:

  • Watch camera videos

  • Talk to people who saw the crash

  • Check all records

The government says they will make train crossings safer after this.

People in the town are very angry and sad. One father said, “This should never happen! Our children must be safe!”

Everyone feels terrible about the three children who died. The government promises to make things better so this kind of accident doesn’t happen again. They want all children to be safe when going to school.
