On July 28, 2025, Rajasthan is dealing with heavy rain for two days straight due to a new weather system. The Meteorological Department warns of more heavy rain for the next 48 hours, so the state is taking action. Schools in 10 districts—Baran, Anta, Banswara, Kota, Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Bhilwara, Ajmer, Tonk, and Chittorgarh—are closed to keep kids safe. A Red Alert for super heavy rain is on for Baran, Bharatpur, Jhalawar, and Karauli today.
Heavy rain shutting schools? That’s serious weather!
Color-Coded Warnings
The weather department issued:
-
Orange Alert (be ready) for Alwar, Banswara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dausa, Dholpur, Dungarpur, Kota, Pratapgarh, and Sawai Madhopur.
-

In Jhalawar, schools are closed until August 2, Dholpur’s schools shut for three days from July 28, and others like Tonk and Baran are off Monday and Tuesday.
So many alerts! Rajasthan’s getting soaked!
Tragic School Collapse
The alerts come after a heartbreaking incident on July 25 in Piplodi village, Jhalawar. Heavy rain caused a government school’s wall and roof to collapse, killing seven children and injuring 21. Locals and parents said they had warned officials about the unsafe building, but no one listened. On Sunday, another school wall fell in Jhalawar’s Khejda Ka Pura village, and other collapses happened in Udaipur and Churu, luckily with no injuries since it was a holiday.
Seven kids lost in a school collapse? That’s so sad and avoidable!
Flooding and Damage
Rain has caused big problems. In Pali, Sirohi, Pratapgarh, and Baran, roads are flooded, and rivers are overflowing. Bisalpur Dam in Tonk opened six gates to release 72,120 cusecs of water. Atru in Baran got 143 mm of rain, and other areas like Pali and Pratapgarh saw heavy downpours. In Jhalawar, a man died from a lightning strike, and two youths drowned in rivers in Bharatpur and Beawar. An X post from @IndiaTVnews said, “Rajasthan on red alert for heavy rain; schools in 10 districts closed!”
Flooded roads and dams opening? This rain’s causing chaos!
Why It Matters
The heavy rain and school closures show how serious this weather is, especially after the Jhalawar tragedy. Ignored warnings about unsafe schools have sparked anger, like the U.S. Embassy’s visa warning for crimes. Authorities are watching closely, but parents are told to check official updates. Like Naidu’s Singapore trip or Idly Kadai’s buzz, this highlights the need for safety and action. If you’re in Rajasthan, stay safe and check weather updates!
