Ravi Shastri, the former head coach of India, praised the team after their big win against England in the second Test at Edgbaston. India won by 336 runs, their first-ever Test victory at this ground, and leveled the series 1-1. Shastri said the team showed great fight and called it a special moment they would never forget.

“The boys showed real strength to come back like this,” Shastri said on Sky Sports. “Losing in Leeds hurt, but here, India controlled the game completely—batting, bowling, and fielding. This Test will be remembered, especially for Gill and the whole team.”

India played without their star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and left out spinner Kuldeep Yadav. After losing the first Test in Leeds, they needed a strong response. This time, they played perfectly. Akash Deep, who replaced Bumrah, bowled brilliantly. On a flat pitch, he kept his pace and line tight, taking important wickets. England was bowled out for 271 on the last day, with more than a session to spare.

Before Akash’s great bowling, captain Shubman Gill set up the win with his batting. He scored 430 runs in the match—the most by an Indian in a single Test. He led the team with confidence and calmness.

Dinesh Karthik, the former India wicketkeeper, also praised Gill’s performance. He called it “royal.”

“In India, we love giving nicknames, and Gill is called the ‘prince.’ He played like one,” Karthik said on Sky Sports. “He knows his game well and has a strong mind. He was India’s best batsman in this match. For most of this series, India has looked like the better team.”

This historic win gives India confidence as they head into the next Test. The series is now tied, and India has the momentum.
