On June 24, 2025, in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, two farmers, Puran and Bharat Yadav, got into a big issue. They were travelling with 4 bulls they bought with all the right papers for their farm, but when some guys who call themselves “cow protectors” stopped them, it was late, around 9:30 p.m. These guys thought the farmers were stealing cows. Even though Puran and Bharat showed their papers to prove everything was fine, the group didn’t care. They hit the farmers and took them to the Hata police station. Later, a video got out online showing the farmers talking about being beat up. You could see cuts and bruises on Bharat’s face.
As a human, I feel so sorry for these guys. They were just doing their farm stuff, and boom, they get attacked for no good reason. It’s awful to think you can do everything right and still get hurt. That video must’ve been hard for them to share, but I’m glad it’s out so people know what’s going on.
What Did the Police Say?
The police guy in charge, Dharmendra Upadhyay, checked the farmers’ papers and said, “Yeah, the bulls were bought the right way for farming.” He said the cow protectors asked the farmers questions, and after checking, everyone went home. But when people asked about Bharat’s face bruises in the video, Upadhyay said nobody told him about any hurts or complained. The police didn’t do anything to the guys who hit the farmers. They also didn’t say why these cow protectors thought they could act like cops and stop people. And they never got a doctor to look at Bharat’s cuts.
This makes me so upset. How can the police see a video of someone with bruises and just say, “Nobody complained”? It’s like they’re pretending nothing happened.
Similar Sad Story in Raisen
Earlier in June 2025, something even sadder happened in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. A guy named Junaid Qureshi, who had a dairy business, was moving cows with his friend. They had proof showing the cows were for dairy, but a big group of 20 to 25 cow protectors attacked them. They beat Junaid and his friend bad for hours. Junaid got so hurt during this incident and he died a few weeks later. His friend was hurt real bad too and went to the hospital. The police said the cows were moved the right way, but then they blamed Junaid and his friend for hurting animals, which made no sense to lots of folks. They arrested a few of the attackers, but it the issue still persists.
Why Does This Keep Happening?
In small towns in Madhya Pradesh, some people act like they’re the boss, saying they’re saving cows. They don’t look at papers or proof and just hurt folks they think are doing bad stuff with cows. The police don’t always stop these groups, which makes it worse. It’s like these cow protectors think they can do anything, and nobody will punish them. People are scared that if nothing changes, more good folks like farmers or dairy workers will get hurt or worse.
I just don’t get why this keeps going on. If someone has papers showing they’re doing legal stuff, why can these groups attack them? It seems they think they don’t care about law and it makes me wonder if people in these towns feel safe working anymore.
What Needs to Fix This?
These stories show Madhya Pradesh needs better rules to stop this brutal. The police should move fast when there’s proof, like videos or bruises, and not wait for someone to complain. People who get hurt should feel okay telling the police without being scared. The government’s gotta make sure nobody can act like cops unless they’re real cops. Until this issue comes to an end, farmers, and others might keep getting hurt just for doing their jobs.
I really hope things get better soon. Nobody should go through what Puran, Bharat, or Junaid did. It’s wrong, and it’s not fair. If the police and government start caring more, maybe people can feel safe again. What do you think? This is such a hard thing, and I’d love to know your thoughts.
