On June 19, 2025, an IndiGo plane with 168 people had to land fast in Bengaluru because it was low on fuel. This happened after a scary Air India crash.
On June 19, 2025, IndiGo flight 6E-6764 had a big problem. It was flying from Guwahati to Chennai, but it couldn’t land in Chennai Airport. There were too many planes there at the same time of landing so the pilot announced, “Mayday! Mayday!” it landed safely back in Bengaluru at 8:20 p.m.
The plane had 168 people on it. Thankfully, everyone was okay. Also, doctors and fire trucks were ready at the airport. It was a safe landing.
The plane left Guwahati at 4:40 p.m. It tried to land in Chennai at 7:45 p.m. There were too many planes in the Airport; however, the pilot couldn’t land the plane as planned so he flew in circles, which used lots of fuel and then the plane got super low on fuel. The pilot had no choice to land in Chennai Airport so he decided to fly back to Bengaluru.
Pilot’s Big Call:
The pilot said air control, “Mayday! We need to land now!” Like, this is a special call for emergencies. It means the plane is in trouble. So, Bengaluru’s airport let the plane land first. And it landed safely. Also, this is normal when fuel is low.
After landing in Bengaluru, the plane got more fuel and it was ready to fly again. Also, a new pilot team took over. The plane went to Chennai later that night and everyone was safe.
Why People Were Scared:
This happened soon after a bad Air India crash which plane crashed in Ahmedabad and killed over 270 people so passengers on the IndiGo plane were extra scared. Also, the “Mayday” call made people nervous, but the situation was under control and landed safely.
An IndiGo worker, Rashmi, talked to news people. She said the plane had to go to Bengaluru because Chennai was too busy. Like, no official words came from IndiGo yet. Also, she said “Mayday” is normal for low fuel. So, the pilot did the right thing.
This emergency landing scared people. Like, it happened after the Air India crash. Also, it shows planes need to be ready for problems. So, people are checking what happened. And they want to keep flights safe.
