On July 16, 2025, AIIMS-Bhopal opened a special After Completion of Therapy (ACT) Clinic for kids who’ve had cancer. The clinic, in the children’s ward, helps kids stay strong and healthy after their cancer treatment ends. It gives them care and therapy to make sure they grow up well. Ajay Singh, the head of AIIMS-Bhopal, said this clinic is all about helping kids live great lives after beating cancer.
A clinic just for kids who beat cancer? That’s so cool! It’s awesome they’re helping them stay healthy.
Why the Clinic Is Important
Singh said about 80% of kids with cancer get better with good treatment. AIIMS-Bhopal already gives kids tests, chemo, radiation, and surgery. Many kids are healthy now, but some have problems later, like growing slowly or feeling sad. The ACT Clinic has a team of doctors, including:
-
A kids’ cancer doctor
-
Experts for hormones and hearts
-
Brain and feelings helpers
-
A food expert and exercise coach
-
A social worker and teacher
This team makes sure kids get all the help they need to do great after cancer.
So many helpers for kids? That’s like a superhero squad making sure they’re okay!
A Fun New Playroom
Singh also opened a new playroom for kids in the hospital, helped by Cankids-Kidscan, a group that supports kids with cancer. The playroom is a happy place where kids getting treatment can play and smile, even on tough days. Singh said, “Healing isn’t just medicine—it’s about joy too. The playroom brings smiles, and the clinic keeps kids healthy.”
A playroom for sick kids? That’s so fun! It must make them so happy to play there.
How It Works
The ACT Clinic is run by the Anatomy Department, which teams up with the cancer doctors to watch over kids after treatment. They check for any health issues and give kids things like therapy or healthy eating tips. Singh thanked the doctors and students for helping kids during and after treatment.
Working together like that is so smart! It’s great they’re keeping an eye on kids.
Why This Matters
The ACT Clinic and playroom show how much AIIMS-Bhopal cares about kids with cancer. With 80% of kids surviving cancer, the clinic helps them stay healthy for a long time. The playroom makes hospital time fun. An X post from @AIIMSBhopal said, “Our clinic and playroom bring hope and health to kids!” This could help lots of kids in Madhya Pradesh live better after cancer.
This is so amazing! Helping kids heal and have fun is the best. What do you think about this clinic and playroom? Tell me!
