On August 16, 2025, the Election Commission of India (ECI) strongly criticized a video shared by the Congress party on X, calling it “AI-generated” and “not real.” The video, posted on Congress’ official handle with the caption “They have stolen our rights,” claimed issues with voter rights in Bihar. The ECI labeled it “Misleading” on X, saying it was a clear attempt to trick Bihar’s people. A fake AI video by Congress? That’s a bold move gone wrong!

Transparent Voter Roll Process

The ECI explained that Bihar’s electoral roll preparation is fair and open, involving Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and over 90,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs). More than 1.6 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from 12 political parties, including Congress, take part. Every voter in each Assembly Constituency is checked. The ECI said this process leaves no room for cheating, and false videos hurt trust in elections.

90,000 officers and 1.6 lakh agents? That’s a tight system!

Fighting Fake News

The ECI is tackling misinformation during Bihar’s Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, especially after criticism over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive. They warned parties and people not to share fake or doctored content that could confuse voters. The Congress video, with its dramatic visuals, was called out as a deliberate attempt to mislead. X users like @IndiaToday posted, “ECI flags Congress’ AI video as fake, warns against voter misinformation in Bihar!”

Calling out fake videos? The ECI’s not playing around!
