On June 26, 2025, in Los Angeles, Hollywood star Amanda Seyfried spilled the tea about her auditions for the movie Wicked on the In the Envelope podcast. The 39-year-old actress, known for Long Bright River, said she had to try out six times to get her part as Cosette in the 2012 musical Les Misérables. Guess what? She also auditioned six times for Wicked! Even though she’s a big star now, she worked super hard to prove herself.

I love how honest Amanda is about this! Auditioning six times sounds exhausting, but it shows how much she wanted those roles. She’s such a hard worker!

Loving the Challenge

Amanda shared that she doesn’t always have to audition anymore because she’s so well-known. But for Wicked, she was all in. “I auditioned like six times for Wicked. It had to be just right,” she said. She was super busy but made time because she loved the music and wanted to nail it. “I worked my butt off for years on that music,” she added. She said she’s competitive in a good way, always pushing herself to be better.

Man, that’s so cool! Amanda didn’t have to try so hard, but she did anyway because she loves it. I bet practicing all that music was fun for her!

Singing with a Star

This isn’t the first time Amanda talked about Wicked. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast in March, she said she got to sing with Cynthia Erivo while trying out for the role of Glinda. “I’ve never felt so good about my voice during those auditions,” she told host Josh Horowitz. Even though Ariana Grande got the Glinda role, Amanda wasn’t upset. She believes things happen for a reason. She even said her family sings Wicked’s song “Defying Gravity” every day at home!

I can just imagine Amanda and Cynthia singing together—that must’ve been amazing! It’s so sweet that her family loves Wicked too. Singing at home sounds like so much fun!

Why She Loved It

Amanda said singing with Cynthia Erivo was a special moment. She worked hard to prepare and felt great about her voice. Even though she didn’t get the part (Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo got Oscar nominations for Wicked), Amanda’s happy with what she learned. She loves musicals and said the auditions were worth it just for the experience.

It’s awesome how positive Amanda is. Not getting the role didn’t stop her from loving the process. That’s such a great attitude!

Why This Matters

Amanda Seyfried’s story shows how much she loves musicals and how hard she works, even as a famous actress. Her Wicked and Les Misérables auditions weren’t easy, but she gave it her all. Fans love her for being so real and passionate. It’s cool to hear how she sings Wicked songs at home and keeps the music alive, even without the role.

I’m so inspired by Amanda’s hard work and good vibes. She didn’t give up, and she still loves the music. What do you think about her story? Let me know!
