On June 26, 2025, in Los Angeles, Hollywood star Amanda Seyfried spilled the tea about her auditions for the movie Wicked on the In the Envelope podcast. The 39-year-old actress, known for Long Bright River, said she had to try out six times to get her part as Cosette in the 2012 musical Les Misérables. Guess what? She also auditioned six times for Wicked! Even though she’s a big star now, she worked super hard to prove herself.

Loving the Challenge
Amanda shared that she doesn’t always have to audition anymore because she’s so well-known. But for Wicked, she was all in. “I auditioned like six times for Wicked. It had to be just right,” she said. She was super busy but made time because she loved the music and wanted to nail it. “I worked my butt off for years on that music,” she added. She said she’s competitive in a good way, always pushing herself to be better.
Man, that’s so cool! Amanda didn’t have to try so hard, but she did anyway because she loves it. I bet practicing all that music was fun for her!
Singing with a Star
This isn’t the first time Amanda talked about Wicked. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast in March, she said she got to sing with Cynthia Erivo while trying out for the role of Glinda. “I’ve never felt so good about my voice during those auditions,” she told host Josh Horowitz. Even though Ariana Grande got the Glinda role, Amanda wasn’t upset. She believes things happen for a reason. She even said her family sings Wicked’s song “Defying Gravity” every day at home!

Why She Loved It
Amanda said singing with Cynthia Erivo was a special moment. She worked hard to prepare and felt great about her voice.
