Actor Aamir Khan has shared that his new film Sitaare Zameen Par will be out on YouTube from August 1. He said he wants everyone to be able to watch it easily. The movie will not come out on any other app or platform. People can watch it only on YouTube.
Aamir said he has been thinking about this for a long time. For the past 15 years, he has been trying to find a way to show movies to people who can’t go to theatres. Some people live in small towns or villages where there are no theatres. Others may not have the time or money to go. He said that now is the right time because more people in India use the internet. Most people also use UPI for payments. Also, YouTube is already installed on many phones and TVs. So, now more people will be able to watch movies easily.
Aamir said his dream is to make movies that everyone can watch without spending too much money. He wants people to choose when and where they watch movies. He hopes this new way of releasing films will help storytellers and young filmmakers. If it works, more people will be able to share new ideas and stories, and viewers won’t be stopped by where they live or how much they earn.
Gunjan Soni, who leads YouTube India, said this is a big step for Indian cinema. She said YouTube is happy to help filmmakers bring their movies to more people. She also said that YouTube is now like a red carpet for Indian films to be seen all around the world.
Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna, first came out in theatres on June 20. Now, people everywhere can watch it for free on YouTube starting August 1.
