Sonali Kulkarni was born on November 3, 1974, in Pune, Maharashtra, into a middle-class Maharashtrian family. Her father was an engineer, and she grew up alongside her two elder brothers, Sandeep and Sandesh. She attended Abhinava Vidyalaya and later graduated from Fergusson College with a degree in political science. Her academic excellence earned her a scholarship in Marathi literature.
